Turning a new leaf

The Art Centre, under the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, will host the opening of “The Palm Leaf Exhibition” tomorrow (Jan 9) with artworks created using paper from palm fronds, handcrafted by skilled Bahraini artisans of the Children and Mothers Welfare Society.

The event, which is part of the 19th Spring of Culture Festival, is being organised in collaboration with the Children and Mothers Welfare Society and Makan Art Gallery, will also be showcasing works by a selection of renowned Bahraini artists until January 18.

These unique pieces, ranging from paintings to collages, address important social issues within Bahraini society. All proceeds from the exhibition will be dedicated to supporting the Children and Mothers Welfare Society and its Women’s Training Centre for Paper Crafts. The exhibition will be open daily from 9am to 8pm.
